1286137 Shearing MOELLER & NEUMANN GmbH 27 Nov 1969 [9 Dec 1968] 58012/69 Heading B3W Disc cutters for thick plates have at least one cutter, the larger cutter if they are of different diameters, in the form of a cutter ring, and a segment-shaped bearing which supports the cutter ring at its inner periphery and guides it laterally. As shown, a cutter disc 1 co-operates with a ring 3 supporting cutter elements 4 and supported on a stationary segment-shaped bearing 6. A plate 7 fixed to the bearing 6 and having a flange 7a engaging in a recess in the ring 3 guides the ring laterally. The ring is driven by engagement of a pinion 10, mounted in the bearing 6 on a line connecting the centres of the two cutters, with an internal toothed track 11. Low friction means such as roller bearings are provided on the upper and lateral surfaces of the bearing 6 which may, as shown, be integral with a bearing 6a for the disc 1. When two circular shears are disposed opposite each other, e.g. for trimming opposed edges of a plate, both shears may be mounted on a support 8, one shear being slidably mounted to accommodate different widths of plate. In one embodiment, the pinion engages an outer toothed track on the cutter ring; in another, the cutter ring is attached through spokes to a driven shaft, bearings of which are resiliently pressed against stops by, e.g., springs which oppose the cutting pressure.
|
