PURPOSE:To increase cycle life and to decrease self-discharge rate by charging a nonaqueous secondary battery in which a polymer obtained by oxidation- polymerization of aniline compound is used in a positive electrode and light metal is used in a negative electrode at constant voltage. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous secondary battery is formed by using a polymer obtained by oxidation-polymerization of aniline compound in a positive electrode, and a light metal, an alloy of light metal, a conductive polymer, or a complex of light metal or light metal alloy with a conductive polymer in a negative electrode, and electrolyte having alkali metal salt as supporting electrolyte. When the battery is charged, a constant voltage of 3.5-4.5V is used for charging. By keeping the charging voltage at above 3.5V, the capacity of the battery is increased, and by keeping it at less than 4.5V, the deterioration in the electrolyte is prevented. Therefore, the energy density of the battery is increased, the cycle life is lengthened, and the self discharge rate is reduced. |
