1286420 Solvent refining lubricating oils TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 25190/71 Heading C5E Naphthenic lubricating oils are refined by extracting at above 50‹ F. with a mixture of 85- 98 wt. per cent N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and 2-15% water to dissolve at least 10 volume per cent of the lubricating oil charge. The use of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and water to refine vacuum distillates and residuals is compared with the use of mixtures of water with 2-pyrrolidone or furfural and with the use of mixtures of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone with sulpholane, triethylene glycol, acetic acid, diisobutyl ketone or benzaldehyde. |
