摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for the electrode of a fuel cell hardly generating the flocculation of platinum particles, by partially oxidizing at least one component of the metals of an alloyed platinum catalyst in such a state that said component is supported by said carrier and supporting the remaining element by the recessed part generated to a catalyst part. CONSTITUTION:One of platinum and the element to be alloyed with platinum is supported by a conductive particle such as a carbon particle and heated in the presence of oxygen to perform oxidizing treatment to form a recessed part to the boundary of the carrier and the supported element. Thereafter, by supporting the remaining element, the contact area of both components is increased and the bonding strength thereof is made strong and the stability to heat treatment is enhanced and alloying at higher temp. is enabled and the bonding strength between the formed alloy and the carrier is enhanced. Therefore, the flocculation caused by the operation of a cell is prevented and the lowering in the characteristics of the cell can be suppressed. As the element alloying with platinum, iron, cobalt, chromium and vanadium, etc. are designated and favorable as an oxidizing catalyst.
