The invention relates to a two-way flow controller for the discharge control in a hydraulic control circuit, with a measuring orifice and a pressure balance in a discharge line, the pressure balance containing a regulating orifice which is controlled by a regulating piston which is movable between a through position and a shut-off position and the piston ends of which are arranged in control chambers which can be acted upon via control lines by control pressures tapped in front of and behind the measuring orifice. For the alternative replacement of the regulating function of the regulating orifice by a control function, provision is made according to the invention for the control chamber in which the regulating piston is acted upon in the opening direction of the regulating orifice to be at least partly relievable. In this way, the regulating orifice performs an alternative directing or blocking function which can be utilised for holding a load pressure or for smooth discharge control.
