The invention relates to a cylinder/piston unit which can be acted upon by a hydraulic fluid and is provided with a buffer for the hydraulic fluid. In order to improve a cylinder/piston unit of the above-mentioned type to the effect that its working piston, while avoiding an additional gas buffer, nevertheless has a certain resilience under load, it is proposed according to the invention that the buffer be created by an increase in the compression volume of the hydraulic fluid while simultaneously utilising the compressibility, limited in itself, of the same. The cylinder (1) of the cylinder/piston unit is connected to an additional compression volume (14) of the hydraulic fluid. The additional compression volume (14) is formed by an annular space (16) which is located inside a casing (5) surrounding the cylinder (1) of the cylinder/piston unit. <IMAGE>
