The strap region intended for engaging around the outer small finger side of the wrist has an opening (5) which is dimensioned such that, with the strap (1) bearing against the wrist, the region of the outer wrist bone, the so-called pisiform, is encircled and lies freely within this opening (5), which may be drop-shaped or even oval. In the case of a two-part strap, the opening may be a cutout, delimited by two strap sides (7, 8), which is open in the direction of the strap end intended for fastening to the strap connection of the watch housing (G). In this manner, the strap with the watch fastened thereon can be worn far down the wrist, near to the back of the hand, and, in addition, the watch housing can be oriented obliquely to the plane of the back of the hand, this being ergonomically favourable and facilitating checking the time. <IMAGE>
