PURPOSE:To increase the sensitivity as well as the sharpness, graininess and color reproducibility by incorporating a specified compound which release a photographically useful group during development. CONSTITUTION:This silver halide color photographic sensitive material contains a compound which oxidizes a compound cleaved by a reaction with the oxidized product of a developing agent, causes a ring opening reaction and can release a photographically useful group. A compound represented by formula I is preferably used as the compound in the sensitive material. In the formula I, A is a residue of a coupler, X is O, S or (un)substituted imino, Y is an org. atomic group forming a 5--8-membered ring together with a group represented by formula II, and PUG is a photographically useful group or a precursor thereof. The atomic group Y regulates the rate of oxidation of an OH group formed by the cleavage of the A-O bond to a CO bond is easily cleaved by hydrolysis, the released X becomes an anion and the PUG is released by the electron- transfer of the anion. The A, X, Y and PUG are selected from wide ranges and the compound can be incorporated into various sensitive materials so as to increase the sharpness, graininess and color reproducibility as well as the sensitivity. |
