PURPOSE:To increase efficiency of copying by displaying an image area that can be formed in a selected recording paper when a recording paper which is not conformable to the size of original detected by an original size detecting means is selected. CONSTITUTION:When a copy key is depressed, an original is set on an original platen 13 from an automatic original feeding device 12, and at the same time, the size of the original is detected by an original size detecting means 12a, and the size is decided by a CPU. Then, it is decided whether recording paper P that fits the decided original size is contained in a paper feeding cassette 15a or 15b. As the result, if a paper feeding cassette that contains recording paper P corresponding to the original size detected by the means 12a is not attached, an area of image that can be formed in the selected recording paper is displayed in a display device. Thereby, an operator can judge whether the direction of the original or recording paper P is to be changed or copying is to be suspended. Accordingly, the operator can proceed to after processing quickly, and the efficiency of copying can be improved. |
