Process for the manufacture of a watch case machined from a quenchable steel. The case is quenched and its surface is then covered, galvanically, with a layer of hard chromium. Each of the operations following the quenching operation is performed at a temperature below 140 DEG C in order to reduce the hardness of the steel as little as possible. <IMAGE>
