摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium having a fire-retardant property imparted thereto and excellent characteristics, by providing a laminated structure consisting of a support layer, a layer containing a fire-retardant substance and a coloring material layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording medium has a laminated structure consisting of a support layer, a layer containing a fire-retardant substance and a coloring material layer. Further, said fire-retardant substance of the medium is an additive type fire retardant comprising one of the following compounds A-D or a compound B: a phosphoric ester compound, C: a halogenated phosphoric ester compound and D: an inorg. compound. Furthermore, the fire-retardant substance is a reaction type fire-retardant containing at least halogen or phosphorus and the content of the fire-retardant substance is 1-100wt%. Because the layer containing the fire- retardant substance imparting a fire-retardant property to the thermal transfer recording medium is provided so as to be separated from the coloring material layer 102 and the support layer 103, the characteristics possessed by the coloring material layer and the support layer are not deteriorated. That is, the side-effect generated by adding the fire-retardant to the coloring material layer and the support layer is eliminated and a high grade image can be recorded.
