PURPOSE:To prevent undesirable movement of developer and to form a clear polychromic image by stopping the rotation of a developing roll that is not used for developing and reducing the developer on the roll at polychromic copying. CONSTITUTION:In the case of polychromic image copying that uses a filter, an image of specified colors is formed by a developing device corresponding to the filter. At such a time, the rotation of a developing sleeve 21 or a magnet 22 of the developing device that is not used for developing is stopped, and a latent image for consuming developer 32 near the latent image at an image part 31 is developed. Consequently, almost no developer is left on the sleeve 21 in the developing area E, and accordingly, shifting of developer to a photosensitive body and other developing devices during suspension of developing can be prevented easily. Thus, a clear polychromic image free from color turbidity can be formed. |
