PURPOSE:To maintain a good contact state by providing a horn-shaped groove having an increasing vertical section on the down stream side in the relative moving direction of a magnetic recording medium to part of the surface of a slider to contact the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A main magnetic pole 10 of a thin soft high permeability magnetic film consisting of Co-Cr, etc. is sandwiched by glass 11a, 11b and is magnetically coupled to an E core 30 of a high permeability magnetic material such as Mn-Zn ferrite. A coil 20 for recording and reproducing is wound to the central leg of the E core. A flat plate 41 consisting of a nonmagnetic material such as BaTiO3 and an L-shaped block 42 are joined from both sides of the E core 30 and the groove D1 is formed of the block 42 and the core 30. The groove D1 provided with the specified with and is obliquely varied in the depth by the preliminary working of the block 42. The slider surface constitutes one plane with the top end of the main magnetic pole 10 and makes full sliding contact with the recording medium. The air layer flow A1 flowing from the front end of the groove D1 into the groove during traveling is diffused A2 by the groove and is decreased in the flow rate so that the slider makes good and stable surface contact with the magnetic medium. |
