PURPOSE:To attain rapid desilvering by carrying out desilvering in a stage with a processing bath having bleaching power and a stage with a processing bath having bleach-fixing power and by adding a bleaching accelerator to the processing bath having bleach-fixing power. CONSTITUTION:Desilvering is carried out essentially in a stage with a processing bath having bleaching power and the following stage with a processing bath having bleach-fixing power, and a bleaching accelerator is added to the latter processing bath having bleach-fixing power. It is preferable that both the processing baths contain the ferric complex salt of aminopolycarboxylic acid. A compound having a mercapto group or a disulfide bond, an isothiourea deriv. or a thiazolidine deriv. is preferably used as the bleaching accelerator.
