The invention relates to carbacyclin derivatives of the general formula I I, wherein R1 represents the radical CH2OH or with R2 having the meaning of a hydrogen atom, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or radical or a heterocyclic radical, or R1 represents the radical with R3 having the meaning of an acyl radical, preferably an alkanoyl or alkanesulphonyl radical, each having from 1 to 10 C-atoms, or having the meaning given for R2 or R1 represents the radical wherein m represents the number 1 or 2, X represents an oxygen atom or a CH2-group, A represents a trans-CH=CH- or a -C?C-group, W a free or functionally modified hydroxymethylene group, wherein the OH-group may be in the .alpha.-position or the .beta.-position, n may represent the number 1, 2 or 3, D represents a straight-chain alkylene group having from 1 to 5 C-atoms, E represents a -C?C-bond or a -CR6=CR7-group, wherein R6 and R7 are different from each other and each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 5 C-atoms or a halogen atom, preferably chlorine, R4 represents an unsubstituted or substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon, cycloalkyl or aryl group or a heterocyclic group, R5 represents a free or functionally modifed hydroxyl group and, when R2 has the meaning of a hydrogen atom, the physiologically tolerable salts thereof with bases, a process for their preparation, and their use as agents for lowering blood pressure.
