Compsn. comprises(wt.%) 80-98 basic refractory aggregate, 0.5-4 glassy silicate, 0.5-3 CaO, 1-5 glassy alkali metal polyphosphate, 0- 4 Cr2O3, 0-6 clay and 0-6 carbon. Pref. materials are aggregate-MgO; silicate; Na2O:SiO2 molar ratio 0.5;CaO as Ca(OH)2; polyphosphate-Na hexametaphosphate; Cr2O3; pulverised chrome ore; clay-air floated ball clay; C-gilsonite or C black. Specified compsn. comprises(wt.%); 83 MgO, 1 Na silicate, 1.5 Ca(OH)2, 3.5 Na hexametaphosphate, 5 pulverised chrome, 4 clay and 1 each of gilsonite and C black. Compsn. is quick setting and has good gunning characteristics and is useful as monolithic lining for steel-making furnaces. |
