Prismatic containers without side flaps and with flat end surfaces as closure surfaces are made from a continuously fed tube of flexible material entirely filled with liquid substance. The side zones 2, 4, 2', 4' connected via the transverse sealing strips 5, 5' are pressed into the inside of the tube 1, 1' before engagement of transverse flattening members. This avoids formation of unattractive corners on the closure surfaces. <IMAGE>
