<p>PURPOSE:To prevent segregation of a steel ingot by installing plural energizing rods around an electrode on the concentrical circle with the electrode, connecting the same to the flange part of a mold and passing the current to the electrode to the energizing rods thereby balancing the magnetic field of the flange part. CONSTITUTION:The energizing (power feed) rods 20 are interposed via power feed terminals 19 onto the flange part 18 of the mold 2. At least two pieces of the rods 20 are disposed around the electrode 1 so as to be concentrical with the electrode 1. The electrode 1 is energized via a stub 11 from a power feed cable 27A, then the current thereof flows upward through the flange part 18 of the mold 2, the terminals 19 and the rods 20, gathers at a power feed terminal 25 and returns to the cable 27A through a power feed cable 27B. The magnetic field in the rods 20 is indicate an arrow B direction so that the magnetic field around the flange part 18 is balanced. The generation of segregation in the steel ingot after electroslag melting is thus prevented and the yield thereof is improved.</p> |
