PURPOSE:To make possible to steer a rear axle with a simple arrangement, by splitting a torque rod for supporting a rear axle movable in the longitudinal direction, into two sections which are retractably coupled with each other by means of a feed screw, and by providing a motor for driving the feed screw to change the effective length of the torque rod. CONSTITUTION:In a rear axle steering device in which the rear axle of a vehicle such as a truck or the like, is suspended by means of a suspension spring composed of leaf springs, the rear axle is suspended slidably in the longitudinal direction, and both ends of the rear axle are coupled to a vehicle body through the intermediary of torque rods 27, respectively. Couplings 33, 34 are provided at both ends of each torque rod 27, and the coupling 33 incorporates a geared motor 35 having its output shaft provided with a feed screw 36 while the coupling 34 is secured at its front end with a disc 37 formed therein with a female thread hole 38 into which the feed screws 26 is threadedly engaged. Further, a microcomputer 47 controls the drive of the geared motor 35 to change the effective length L between the couplings 33, 34 to steer the rear axle. |
