PURPOSE:To surely detect the outflow of slag with high accuracy by purging an inert gas from the top end position of an optical detector and disposing the detector in a position deviated from a splash scattering region so as to coincide with the moving direction of a sliding nozzle. CONSTITUTION:Upper and lower sealing materials 7A, 7B are provided between the sliding nozzle 3 which is adjusted in the opening degree by moving a lower nozzle 3B by an open/shut device 5 with regard to a stationary upper nozzle 3A and a pouring pipe 6. A guide pipe 9 into which the optical detector 10 is inserted is passed through the sealing materials 7A. The detector 10 is attached in the position deviated from the splash S scattering region by notching 7a the lower part of the inside surface of the sealing materials 7A so that the attaching direction coincides with the moving direction of the nozzle 3B. The inert gas G such as N2 is purged from the front surface of the detector 10 to fill the inside of the sealing materials 7A, 7B with the gas G and to blow off the splashes S in front of the detector 10 so that the flow of the molten steel MF is detected always in the large area per visual field. |
