The invention relates to a contact and holding device (1) for the electrophoretic painting of hollow spherical bodies (6) having a neck (7) in the vicinity of the opening of the body (6). This device is constructionally simple, enables easy and rapid loading accompanied by secure support, continuously ensures an electrically conducting connection between the support (4, 5) and the body (6) to be painted and enables the painted body (6) to be detached or removed easily, with automatic cleaning of the contacts (4, 5). According to the invention, the device (1) has a first centric holding arrangement (2, 4) with holding wires (4) which hold the neck (7) at the bottom, and a second centric holding arrangement (2; 5) having holding springs (5) which press on the body (6) on its sides remote from the holding wires (4) behind the apex line (S) of the body (6). <IMAGE>
