The invention relates to a pig for examining piping, in particular a pipeline, for irregularities in its cross-section, in particular constrictions in its cross-section, having at least one cross-section test element which is arranged radially with respect to the pig longitudinal centre axis, which points in the direction of travel of the pig as it passes through the pipeline, protruding approximately as far as the inner surface of the pipeline and which is designed to be flexible in the direction of the longitudinal centre axis. The invention is based on the object of developing a pig of the generic type mentioned at the beginning such that it can be used to localise the irregularity in the cross-section. The object has been achieved according to the invention in that the pig has a recording device which records a bend in the cross-section testing element. In a preferred embodiment, the recording device has at least one electrical recording element which is assigned to the outer area of the cross-section testing element and which is preferably an electrical switch.
