With the help of the described device, people whose visual awareness and hands are occupied by a particular activity, e.g. vehicle drivers, or people with physical handicaps with correspondingly limited capabilities, can record written information using a printer (10). A microphone (3), a receiving part (5) with a device to record the spoken text on sound recording media, and a recognition part (6) with a device (8) to compare characteristic features, particularly speech spectra, of the spoken text with previously stored (7) features, and to output (9) a command which is assigned to the relevant stored feature if the features are the same or similar, are provided. So that the device can be fitted into a dashboard, it fits the purpose if the electronic components are enclosed by a housing, which has all the operating elements at the front.
