Gripper head for barrel-palletising machines. So that barrels (kegs) disposed in single layers or several layers and without edge beading rolled in at the end faces can be taken hold of while dispensing with clamping means in the formation (layer) and can be shifted for the purpose of palletising, the keg formation is gripped all around from underneath by pivotable locking flaps (14, 15) below the respective top rolling beads (3) of the kegs (2). When the gripping head (1) is raised, the kegs (2) settle on the locking flaps (14, 15) and are then shifted in a suspended manner without compressive stress, in the course of which the keg formation does not collapse even if more than one keg (2) is missing (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
