In order to stabilise the high voltage (high tension) in a television set, the switching time for an electronic switch is controlled by the control variable which is derived from the high voltage, which is produced with the aid of a high-voltage transformer. This electronic switch switches a transformed voltage, which is supplied by a secondary winding, to reference potential (reference earth) via a storage inductance. The magnetic energy, which may be more or less large, is transferred into the high-voltage circuit so that the high voltage is kept constant depending on the load on it.
