<p>PURPOSE:To prevent various obstructions accompanied with vaporization of chloride in a material, by surrounding electron beam irradiated domain for melting the material contg. spongy active metal with a heat resisting wall material providing a trap for collecting chloride in sealed or semisealed state. CONSTITUTION:In a shielded case 1 providing an evacuating system 5, the material G contg. spongy active metal such as spongy Ti and supplied from a material supplying hopper 3 is melted by electron beam irradiated from electron beam irradiating device 2a, 2b in a water cooled vessel 4 for material melting. A molten metal M obtd. thereby is poured into a water cooled mold 8 from an overflow hole 4a of the vessel 4, cooled and solidified to a billet I and it is continuously pulled out by a billet pulling device 9. In the title apparatus of above described constitution, the heat resisting wall material 7 is provided to the vessel 4 so that electron beam irradiated domain is surrounded and it is made sealed or semisealed state. Further the trap 11 for collecting chloride using adsorbent, etc., is arranged at a suitable position above the space surrounded by the material 7 to prevent diffusion of chlorides vaporized from the material G.</p> |
