<p>A sealing ring is intended to be housed in a supporting groove communicating with the high-pressure side, the groove having a lip at the low-pressure side to retain the ring. The ring is composite, its major part being of highly elastic material and its nose of stiffer material. Prefd. materials are nitrile rubber for the softer major part, and polymers contg. fluorine for the harder nose. The arrangement prevents the nose becoming jammed between the retaining lip and the opposite component.</p> |
