The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for running greenhouses and serves predominantly for both tapping and utilising excess heat. The aim of the invention is to permit a continuous climate, which is favourable in a vegetation-specific manner, in the daytime and nighttime of the summer and winter months and to achieve optimum heat and moisture redistribution, regardless of the climate outside, with the lowest possible use of primary energy, outlay in terms of equipment and control, space requirement and arrangement difficulties for all greenhouses which are to be newly designed as well as for existing greenhouses. According to the invention, the process is configured, for this purpose, such that the warm-air quantity accumulating in the ridge region is first of all taken in by the atomised mixed water, is then brought into contact with this water and, finally, is discharged either into the open air or into the region of the cultivation-bed sections, with or without the admixture of outside air. The mixed water flows through one or more heat stores with a heat-absorbing and heat-discharging capacity. The apparatus is composed essentially of a water jet apparatus, of a collecting tank in which the heat store or stores, preferably latent heat stores, are arranged, of a pump and of intake and discharge lines for the discharge and supply of air.
