In the case of a cooking receptacle formed, as a whole, from material which is impermeable to microwaves, provision is made for at least one wall region which is permeable to microwaves and can be covered by a screen with a variable degree of covering in order to regulate the penetration of microwaves into the interior of the cooking receptacle. The cooking receptacle preferably sits in a water receptacle made of microwave-permeable material and has water and steam passages to the latter to prevent the food being cooked from drying out.
