In a sanitary towel or panty liner for absorption of body fluid, an absorbent pad (1) is surrounded by a length (2) cut from a continuous web as a single part. As a continuous web, the length (2) has liquid-tight edge regions (3, 4) on the long sides which form a liquid-tight underside in the finished product in that they are connected leak- tightly to each other there.
