The invention relates to a continuous process for the production of elastic foams based on melamine resins, in which a mixture of an aqueous solution of a melamine-formaldehyde precondensate, an emulsifier, a curing agent and a volatile blowing agent is foamed and cured, and the resulting foam is dried to a water content of less than 10% by weight and then conditioned with the aid of through-flowing hot gases. According to the invention, the drying is carried out by ultrahigh-frequency irradiation.
