During the pressing operation, the presence of ultrasounds in air are detected in correspondence with regions (5) of the part (T) in which production cracks may occur. This presence of ultrasounds, which is indicative of the existence of production cracks, may correspond both to the propagation through the mechanical part (T) of ultrasounds generated by a source (l0) and directed (7) towards the part itself and to the interaction with the cracks of a pressurised air (l4) flow conveyed (ll) towards the surface of the part.
