PURPOSE:To provide a fuel cell electrode material whose porosity ratio and flexibility are greatly enhanced and whose life is long, by adopting a complex structure consisting of a nickel powder layer and a minute fiber layer. CONSTITUTION:An electrode material 1 comprises a fiber layer 5 made of nickel fibers 4 of 2-50mum in diameter each and having a porosity ratio of 70-99%, and a nickel powder layer 3 made of a nickel powder 2. The layers 5, 3 are piled together in the direction of the thickness of the material 1 and integrated with each other by sintering. Since the sintered fiber layer 5 of high porosity ratio and flexibility acts as the reinforcing layer of the electrode material, the deformation following property and flexibility of the material are enhanced and separation or the like is prevented. Since the nickel fibers 4 are sintered in a two-dimensionally dispersed state in the fiber layer 5, the strength of the electrode material is stabilized and the irregularity in the quality thereof is suppressed. For these reasons, the electrode material 1 can be used for a long period of time, and the weight thereof can be reduced. |
