PURPOSE:To make a gap within the same cell uniform by interposing gap control materials and liquid crystal between substrates and adhering and fixing the substrates at many points by spacers of the diameter larger than the diameter of the gap control material. CONSTITUTION:The spacers 6, formed of thermoplastic adhesive agent particles, have the softening temp. exceeding the transition temp. from liquid to liquid crystal of the liquid crystal to be sealed into the gap between the substrates 1 and 2 and are formed to the diameter larger than the diameter of the gap control materials 3. The gap control materials 3, sealant 4 and the spacers 6 are disposed between the two substrates 1 and 2 and while a prescribed pressure is exerted to the substrates 1, 2 from the outside surfaces thereof, the substrates are heated up to the softening temp. of the spacers 6, then the spacers 6 adhere between the substrates 1 and 2 and the sealant 4 is cured by the heat. The thorough sealing is thus executed. The pressure and heating are released after the pressurizing and heating treatment. The prescribed liquid crystal is then packed into the gap between the substrates 1 and 2. The inside of the gap is thereby maintained uniform. |
