PURPOSE:To attain recording and reproducing by a same head by dislocating a magnetic path in a track transverse direction at the time of the recording and reproducing. CONSTITUTION:On a non-magnetic slider 1, magnetic paths 2 and 3 composed of a coil 4, 'Permalloy(R)', etc., are dislocated and formed in the track direction. At the time of writing, the electric current is supplied to a coil 4, recording is executed to a medium by a leaking magnetic flux from a gap 6, and at the time of reproduction, the light, in which the magnetizing rotation of a magnetic path 3 is linearly polarized by the magnetic field from the medium, is made incident upon a position 5, and the modulating light by the magnetizing rotation of the reflecting light or the transmitting light is detected. Thus, since the magnetic recording and the optical reproduction can be executed by the same head, a high S/N reproduction can be realized and the high recording surface density such as the high track density can be attained. |
