PURPOSE:To provide high sensitivity and to improve the graininess of a dye image by incorporating internally fogged internal latent image type silver halide particles and a high-speed two-equiv. cyan coupler and by forming a silver halide emulsion layer in which surface latent image type silver halide particles are present so that they are adjacent to the internal latent image type silver halide particles. CONSTITUTION:This silver halide photographic sensitive material contains internally fogged internal latent image type silver halide particles and a high-speed two-equiv. cyan coupler and has at least one silver halide emulsion layer in which surface latent image type silver halide particles are present so that they are adjacent to the internal latent image type silver halide particles. A coupler represented by the formula (where A is a residue of an image forming coupler having a naphthol or phenol ring, m=1 or 2, and Z is a group bonding to the coupling position of the residue and eliminable from A during coupling with the oxidized product of an aromatic primary amine developing agent) is preferably used as the cyan coupler. A silver halide emulsion layer contg. the internally fogged internal latent image type silver halide particles contains a cyan coupler other than the high-speed two-equiv. cyan coupler. The preferred amount of the internally fogged silver halide particles having internal fogging nuclei in the silver halide photographic sensitive material is 5-30mol% (expressed in terms of silver halide) of the amount of the surface latent image type photosensitive silver halide particles.
