PRODUCTION OF CONNECTING ROD FOR INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To reinforce adequately the rod part of a connecting rod without exposing the end face of a fiber molding to the inside surface of a crank pin hole in a high-pressure solidification casting method by supporting both ends of the fiber molding by a core for forming a piston hole and a wire rod. CONSTITUTION:A casting mold M having a cavity 4 for forming a connecting rod consisting of a rod forming part 4c as well as a large end forming part 4a and small end forming part 4b provided respectively successively to both ends of said rod forming part is prepd. A fiber molding F is disposed in the part 4c and one end thereof is fixed to a core 62 for forming a piston pin hole projecting into the part 4b. The other end of the molding F is space from a core 61 for forming a crank pin hole projecting into the part 4a and is supported by the molding F or a wire rod 81 of the same material as a molten metal. The molten metal is then filled into the cavity 4 and is pressurized by hydrostatic high pressure by which the molten metal is filled and combined in and with the molding F.
