[Also in Division C2] Photopolymerizable unsaturated compounds such as methacrylic acid esters, vinyl esters, vinyl halides, vinyl ketones, vinyl ethers, vinyl cyanides, vinylidene halides and styrene, and also mixtures of different monomers and mixtures thereof with unsaturated polyesters containing radicals of alpha, beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acids and possibly allyl ether groups are photopolymerized by using as an initiator at least one benzophenone derivative of the formula in which R 1 denotes CH 2 X, CHX 2 or CX 3 , R 2 denotes H, CH 3 , CH 2 X, CHX 2 or CX 3 , and X denotes a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom. Specified unsaturated compounds are methyl and ethyl acrylate, acrylic acid butyl ester and polyester prepared by poly condensation of maleic acid anhydride, phthalic anhydride, propane diol 1, 2 mixed with hydroquinone and dissolved in styrene.</p> |
