This invention relates to imidazole compd. which has rustproof activity for silver metal. 11.0g of 2-ethyl-4-methyl imidazole, 5.6g of potassium hydroxide and 38ml of t-butanol are mixed in a reactor and this mixt. is heated before reflux and then 9.1g of carbon disulfide is added to the mixt.. This reaction mixt. is refluxed 2.6hrs and is recrystallized to give 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole-5- dithiocarbonate.
