PURPOSE:To aim at preventing power dissipation and an facilitating engaging and releasing control, by attaching a free wheel hub to a front drive axle provided with a hub reduction so that the engagement and release of the free wheel hub is controlled with the use of a fluid pressure device. CONSTITUTION:In order to set a free wheel hub device in its engaging condition, a switch at the driver's seat is turned on to open a solenoid valve so that fluid such as, for example, air, oil or the like, is introduced into a chamber defined by a cylinder 4 and a piston 4 so that the piston 3 is displaced overcoming a return spring 5. Then an axle shaft 1 secured to the piston 3 in the axial direction is also moved so that spline type dog teeth 9 are meshed with the similar teeth on a sun gear 13. Accordingly, the rotation of a constant speed joint 11 is transmitted so that the rotation of the above-mentioned shaft 1 is transmitted to a disc wheel 19 and a hub 20 from the sun gear 13 constituting a hub reduction through transmission means 16 through 18. |
