1384800 Resuscitators H KEHLENBACH 29 June 1972 [29 June 1971] 30435/72 Heading A5R A resuscitator comprises an expandable bag 1, and a flexible tube 6 connecting the bag to a means for supplying a gaseous or liquid medium under pressure to the bag 1 and means for rhythmically varying the said pressure, whereby on introducing the bag into the human oesophagus to a level adjacent to the heart the bag may be rhythmically expanded and contracted thus providing a massaging action to the heart. The means for supplying a medium under pressure comprises a pump 4, pressure monitoring means 3 and a valve 5 operable to isolate the pump from the tube 6. The means for rhythmically varying the pressure in the bag 1 comprises a second expandable bag 2 also connected to the tube 6, the second bag being manually compressible so as to provide rhythmic variations in pressure for expanding and contracting the first bag. |
