PURPOSE:To reduce the splashing of a lubricant due to the rotation of the titled magnetic storage body by coating a magnetic medium, a surface modifying layer and a lubricant on a substrate body. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic medium 2 is coated on a substrate body 1, a surface modifying layer 4 is then coated on the medium 2 and a lubricant 5 is further coated on the modifying layer 4. For the surface modifying layer 4, -COOH, -NCO, -M(OR)3-nRn (n is 0, 1 or 2 and M is a metal or a semimetal such as Si, Ti, Zr, Ge and Sn), etc., can be used. The functional group contained in the molecule reacts with the magnetic medium 2 or the surface of a protective film 3 and the surface modifying layer 4 is firmly coated on the surface.
