Convertible frame, useable as base construction and as framework for chairs with two positions, in which the principle of the upright chair with four legs and the principle of the armchair are united. It consists of a bearing element 1, supported on the one side by folding legs 2, 3, which are linked, by means of rods 5, to a tilting backrest 4. The lower parts of the folding legs 3 and the rods 5 form in combination an element 6 which cannot be deformed. The rear legs are equipped with rollers and the structure is equipped with a locking system such that the movements of the structure are locked either in a position to be characterised as an upright chair, or in a position to be characterised as an armchair. <IMAGE>
