The invention relates to means for receiving and retaining proteins and/or nucleic acids on a supported surface. The invention consists in bringing proteins and/or nucleic acids, in a solubilised form, into contact with a free surface formed on a chemically inert support, the said surface possessing a generally hydrophobic character while carrying charges of a defined sign, in the presence of a detergent carrying charges of opposite sign to the defined sign, the concentration of the detergent being sufficient to maintain, where appropriate, the solubility of the said proteins and/or nucleic acids, but not exceeding that which would result in a too selective binding of the said detergent to the said surface at the expense of the proteins and/or nucleic acids.
