Device allowing the transport and handling of trituration wood intended for paper-making factories. The invention relates to a device for transporting high unit loads adapted by its dimensions equally well to rail and road because of easy handling. This device, of light construction (tare: 318 kg) is made from strong and inexpensive materials. The horizontal and/or vertical handling operations are possible with existing means, both traditional (cranes) and modern (fork lift trucks). Each device constitutes an independent stack, immobilised by a cable fixed to a tightening drum. The goods can be guaranteed by sealing. On the wagon, retractable stops prevent any movement in a direction transverse to the device. When unloaded, the ladder racks fold onto the base of the tray allowing the stacking of the devices before they are loaded. The length of logs accepted by the device can be between 1.50 and 2.50 metres. <IMAGE>
