PRODUCTION OF PLATE FOR LEAD STORAGE BATTERY

PURPOSE:To reduce man-hour and to obtain an inexpensive plate by positioning a black for forming a leg part between the respective molding tool parts of two sheets of grid bodies in a grid body casting mold and pouring molten lead into the mold thereby forming a grid body constituting member. CONSTITUTION:The block 4 for forming the leg part consisting of a synthetic resin having heat resistance, acid resistance and electrical insulating characteristic is preliminarily formed. The block 4 has plural recesses 5 which open to both sides and have bottom parts 5a positioned back to back. The block 4 is then positioned and disposed between the molding tool parts of the grid body 1 on both sides of the grid casting mold. The molten lead is poured into the casting mold so that the block 4 and grid part 1a are formed to the same plane an that the grid bodies 1 on both sides can be electrically insulated from each other by the block 4. The grid body constituting member 3 is formed in the above-mentioned manner. An active material is packed into the grid parts 1a of such member 3 and finally the cutting part 6 of the block 4 of the member 3 is cut. The plate having the electrically insulated leg parts 7 is thus formed.
