An expansion valve comprises a main valve constituted by a main valve member 9 operating in conjunction with a main nozzle orifice 10 and actuable by a diaphragm-operated valve tappet 8 and a chamber divided in a pressure tight manner by the diaphragm into two compartments, one of which, 13a, is arranged for communication 14 with a pressure-generating temperature sensor, the arrangement being such that fluid flows through a preliminary valve 7 prior to the main valve, the preliminary valve being continuously adjustable from the outside of the valve body. For this purpose, an adjusting knob 5 turns a spindle 6 which moves axially to raise or lower the preliminary valve stem 4. The compartment 13b may be selectively placed in communication with the downstream side 22 of the valve (Figs. 2 and 4, not shown), or with a zone outside the valve and downstream thereof (Figs. 3 and 5).</p> |
