Elec. insulation coatings are formed by electrophoretic coating of an elec. conductor with a water-thinned varnish of elec. insulating resin contg. mica, followed by drying, impregnating with a curing agent, heat-drying, impregnating with a resin, and curing. For example, Epikote 1001 100, tetrahydrophthalic anhydride 25, and ethylene glycol 6 parts are reacted to aicd value 30-60 and thinned with water contg. NH3 to give a water-thinned varnish. The varnish is mixed with mica, thinned with water to 15% solids, electrophoretically coated on an induction motor coil prewound with glass fiber, impregnated with an aq. soln. contg. 2% acrylic polymer and 5% triethanolamine, dried at 150≦̸C and to give a sagging-free insulation.
