The irradiation unit is for the non-poisonous treatment of seed affected by fungus or mould, using hot-air jets (E) generating currents in opposite directions through the grains to cause turbulence. The protein content is increased by nitrogen (N) at high pressure, being drawn by osmosis in through the curved grain walls, the unit operating similarly to a drier.(1) |
