The radial shaft seal, which is intended for a bearing, has a sealing element which rests in sealing fashion on a running sleeve. It is connected to a rotating machine part for rotation in common and has an axial stop for a counterstop on the rotating machine part. In the installed position, the axial stop is fixed between the counterstop and an abutting part of the bearing. As a result, the radial shaft seal can be positioned accurately in its installed position in a simple manner.
